When Tipper Gore talked about ``civility'' in her Democratic Convention speech that brought First Lady Hillary Clinton to the stage Tuesday, I thought of Samuel Graham.
Maybe because a picture of this round-faced, brown-faced, chunky boy had flashed on the television screen a little while before the speech. He reminded me of somebody's child -- a friend, a relative; I couldn't bring the person to mind.
Just a day before the speech, Samuel, at that awful age of 12, when boys still want to cry, but they aren't supposed to, stepped on a stool that he had pushed under a tree in his back yard in Fort Lauderdale.
