Qld: Police combing bushland around makeshift grave

BRISBANE, Dec 13 AAP - Police acting on a warrant have discovered human remains ina makeshift grave on a south-east Brisbane property.
A police spokeswoman said the body was found on a property in Eastwood Street, Chandlerat about 10pm (AEST) yesterday near an old caravan.
Chief homicide detective Mike Condon said it was too early to determine the age orsex of the remains.
The badly decomposed remains and some clothing were found and partially uncovered intheir bushland grave after an extensive search by officers carrying a warrant.
Police guarded the area overnight and investigators returned early today.
Inspector Condon confirmed the bushland was on private property but police were yetto determine if the caravan was connected to the remains.
"Obviously, it is located within the crime scene area," he said.
Insp Condon said it was unclear if anyone was occupying the caravan, but it did notappear equipped for occupation.
He said the owners of the property were helping police with investigations.
Insp Condon would not reveal why police had targeted the property, but a police spokeswomanearlier said they had received information from the public.
He said a weapon had not yet been found near the grave site.
