QLD: Computer help for riural doctors

Queensland rural doctors facing tricky diagnoses can now call on their computers for help.

Health Minister WENDY EDMOND says doctors in remote areas facing patients with snake
bite or unusual illnesses can access the Clinicians Knowledge Network for information.

The service operates through 140 public hospitals and 17,000 personal computers connected
to the Queensland Health on-line network.

There's information on diagnosis, treatment, pharmacy and poisons, as well as direct
links to the full texts of premier medical journals.
