The breakdown of congressional and White House negotiations over health care reform made about as much sense to the American public as the shutdown of major league baseball in August.
Actually, the stalemate is a good thing. It's giving us more time to figure out what's really needed on the health care front and to analyze the likely economic effects of major change to an industry that accounts for one-seventh of the U.S. economy.
